A welcome from the President

Welcome to our branch.

On behalf of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #211, welcome to our website. We hope you will find both historical and current information about our branch.

This is my second term serving as President. There have been numerous executive changes over the past year, with the current executive members including Mark Savoy, 1st Vice President; Linda Balaski, 2nd Vice President; Jo-Anne Harrison, Treasurer; and Clara Doyle, Secretary; alongside Norman Anderson (Past President), Cam Jeanson, Phyllis Taylor, Katie Savoy, Sigmund Johannessen, Edith Valdez and Amanda Wilson.

We invite everyone to visit our facilities and learn more about the many programs and activities available. The year 2026 marks the Centenary year of The Royal Canadian Legion. In recognition of our 100th anniversary, free membership will be offered to all new members in 2026, and we will host special events throughout the year to celebrate.

We encourage you to join us, explore the benefits of membership and become part of the proud legacy of an organization whose core mission is serving Veterans and their families.

Sincerely,
Comrade Neil Van Bemmelen
President, Bowser Branch #211

The Royal Canadian Legion

Guardians of Remembrance.

With almost 400,000 members in 1,590 branches, The Royal Canadian Legion makes sure Canadian Veterans of all ages receive everything they so richly deserve. We are the Guardians of Remembrance in Canada, and we also play a big role in community development. We are a not-for-profit organization, self-funded by our members, for the good of our Veterans and our communities.

Every year, from the last Friday of October to November 11, tens of millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada's Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. The Poppy is given freely to all who wish to wear one, and the Legion gratefully accepts donations to the BC/Yukon Command Poppy Fund.
